Notification Inbox
This guide explains how to use the notification inbox to stay updated on mentions and comment activity.
Overview
The notification inbox keeps you informed about:
- @mentions in comments
- Replies to your comments
- Pages shared with you
- Permission changes
Accessing the Inbox
- Look for the bell icon (🔔) in the dashboard header
- A badge shows the number of unread notifications
- Click to open the inbox
Notification Types
Mentions
When someone @mentions you in a comment, you'll see:
- Who mentioned you
- The page name
- A snippet of the comment
Replies
When someone replies to your comment, you'll see:
- Who replied
- The page name
- A snippet of the reply
Page Shared
When someone shares a page with you, you'll see:
- Who shared it
- The page name
- Your access level
Filtering Notifications
Use the tabs at the top of the inbox to focus on specific notification types:
- All: View all notifications across all categories
- Deadlines: Deadline approaching and overdue notifications
- Mentions: @mentions and comment replies directed at you
- Inbox: Email and calendar event notifications
- Sharing: Page sharing and permission change notifications
Each tab displays a count badge showing the number of notifications in that category. The selected notifications will automatically update to match your filter.
Managing Notifications
Marking as Read
Single notification:
- Click on any notification to open it
- It will automatically be marked as read
- Use the dropdown menu to mark as read without opening
Multiple notifications:
- Check the boxes next to notifications you want to mark as read
- Click "Mark read" in the bulk actions bar
- Selected notifications will be marked as read
All notifications:
- Click "Mark all read" at the top of the inbox
- Works across all tabs and filters
Viewing Notification Details
Click any notification to:
- Navigate to the relevant page (if the page still exists)
- View the content related to the notification
- Automatically mark the notification as read
Note: Some older notifications may link to pages that have been deleted or moved. In these cases, you'll be redirected to the Pages list.
Unread Badge
The badge on the bell icon shows:
- Number of unread notifications (up to 9)
- "9+" if more than 9 unread
The badge updates automatically.
Loading More
If you have many notifications:
- Scroll to the bottom of the list
- Click "Load more" to see older notifications
Tips
Stay on Top of Mentions
Check your inbox regularly for @mentions. These often require your attention or input.
Use Category Filters
If your inbox is busy, use category filters to focus on what matters:
- Deadlines: Quickly see what's due or overdue
- Mentions: Focus on direct callouts that need your attention
- Inbox: Check new emails and upcoming calendar events
- Sharing: Review permission changes and new page access
Clear Your Inbox
Use "Mark all read" to clear the badge when you've caught up.
Privacy
- You only see notifications for pages you have access to
- If your access is revoked, related notifications are hidden
- Other users cannot see your notifications
